Blood Relations
Blood relations questions describe a chain of family connections in a sentence and ask how two people in that chain are related. The skill is carefully tracking each relationship one step at a time rather than guessing from the overall shape of the sentence.
Common patterns
- Sibling relationships combined with a parent statement
- Statements that circle back to describe the speaker
- Marriage relationships producing an in-law connection
- A deliberate exclusion ("...and he is not my father") used to resolve what would otherwise be an ambiguous relationship
Worked example
Question: P is the husband of Q. R is the mother of P. How is Q related to R?
Answer: Daughter-in-law
Q is P’s wife, and R is P’s mother — making Q the daughter-in-law.
